About Pass the Torch

In 2023, Queensland saw a significant surge in domestic violence orders (DVO), with a 21.6% increase, equating to 6,958 additional incidents compared to the previous year. This alarming rise highlights a humanitarian and national crisis, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced support systems, fortified legal protections, and comprehensive services to combat domestic violence.

Why join us

The "Pass The Torch" relay event powerfully connects the community around supporting domestic violence survivors through the symbolic act of teams passing the torch. This torch passing represents the community joining together to pass hope, safety, and empowerment from one survivor to the next. It unites local groups, businesses, and residents in a collaborative format that raises vital funds and awareness about breaking the cycle of abuse through the event comprehensive initiatives.

On the day

The 5km relay route includes 5 stations, each covering a 1km stretch. Starting within Surfers Paradise, he event concludes at Surf City with a prize presentation.

Participants can choose their preferred station to walk or run. You can register individually or as part of a team.
